MTMM051 British Paratrooper Royal Enfield WD-RE Flying Flea

£9.99

Actually the 1st Airborne Division, the British Paratrooper formed the mainstay of the parachute capacity of the British Army.  Taking part in various landings and actions, the most famous was the attempt to take the bridge at Arnhem in September 1944, which ultimately finished in tragic failure, though after a valiant nine day fight.

The Royal Enfield WD-RE known as the "Flying Flea" was a lightweight motorcycle developed that could be dropped by parachute or carried in gliders, to quickly carry messages and signals between airborne and assault troops where radio communications were not available.  They were also used on the beaches of Normandy.
