The Fairey "Firefly" two-seat carrier-borne fighter completed its maiden mission in late 1941 and entered full-rate production for the Royal Navy only in January 1942. "Firefly" fighters saw action for the first time in April 1944, covering an attack of carrier-borne bombers on the German battleship "Tirpitz". Then, "Fireflies" fought in the Pacific. Several variants of the plane were made during WWII, totaling 706 aircraft.
